…last few days in Quezon City. I still don’t want to break down my bike and stuff it in a box but all this rain…
In Bacolod, I’d go straight home from a most rides. Here in Manila, the rush of traffic along Marcos highway and Katipunan takes away a bit of the good vibes from Rizal’s great climbs…a quick loop around the acacia lined streets of UP and its all back.
There’s an island in a lake in an island in this lake which is in this island I’m standing on…
…eating my words, i now have a smart(ish)phone in my jersey pocket. No surprise, Strava was one of the first apps installed. This serves as a warning, expect low resolution pixel goodness. Film snobs better unfollow now…

late afternoon spin around the UP Oval…great place to for a run or an easy ride
(and all the acacias remind me of SU and Dumaguete which i miss a lot)
Wham! Burgers today, Burger Project sometime this week..
a Dutch guiding a Filipino down some roads where the pinoy PROs ride
rode to some place i haven’t been before
After the long lines in immigration and the long wait for our baggage, an iced coffee in a quiet cafe at the far end of NAIA to bring back some of the good vibes…

I have made friends all over the world, at a bar in Brazil, on the bike in New York, on the top of a dune in Abu Dhabi, in the back seat of a pick up truck in Georgia, at a cafe in Rome and a bookstore/bar in Paris. I laughed long and hard in Lake Placid, stood silently in San Francisco and jump and ran in Los Angeles. I have made new friends all over the world but I have solidified my best friendships in the woods.
Sometimes you have to leave the bar, leave the city and go do something out of the ordinary. Seek adventure, because likely it’s not looking for you.
…i feel as if adventure DOES look for you, you just have to say “yes” and go with it.
